NATIONAL boat broker Pacific Yachting has moored in Newcastle.

The dealership, which sells the luxury Australian-made Mustang sports cruisers, Black Watch game fishing boats, Dufour and Farr yachts, is the first major brokerage to set up at the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club.

``It's great news for the new marina and the port," Pacific Yachting sales manager Glen Tynan said yesterday.

``Newcastle is growing as a major centre for yachting and boating, and this is an indication of the faith we have in the area."

The brokerage, which has outlets at Marks Point and Marmong Cove marinas, is also setting up at Nelson Bay.

``We're in the luxury boat market and we have a full range of used craft but having the four brokerages on Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and Newcastle Harbour allows us to suit everyone's boating needs," Mr Tynan said.

Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club commodore George Keegan said the club and marina was receiving great respect from the boating industry.

``We've got ourselves a top operation here now, a world-class facility, and it's been long overdue for Newcastle," he said.

``We already have 88 berths, we're building a further 120 and the number of inquiries we're getting every day is staggering."

Pacific Yachting will be officially opened on November 28 at the yacht club's commercial centre by Mustang sports cruisers general manager Gary Garoni.

Mr Tynan said the Mustang Owners Club would take a fleet on a cruise to Raymond Terrace the next day to mark the occasion.
