AT Korea's recent Seoul Motor Show specialist car maker Ssangyong showed a stylish sports utility vehicle called SV-R.

Now SV-R is in production and has a new name: Kyron.

Built on the Rexton SUV platform and sporting a 2740 mm wheelbase, the four-door Kyron station wagon is 4660 mm long and features fully-independent suspension.

Right now there is just one engine available, a Mercedes-Benz-based 2.7-litre, common-rail turbo-diesel which is good for around 130 kilowatts and 350 newton metres of torque. A petrol-powered 2.0-litre, four-cylinder is expected to be added in the near future.

Currently Kyron is only for the South Korean market but it will make its European debut later in the year. Australia? Ssangyong Motors is still to return our call.

Facelift for Peugeot 307

FOUR years, 2.2 million cars and Peugeot has a facelifted 307 waiting in the wings.

The most noticeable change is at the front where a new nose treatment resembling that of the bigger 407 model has been grafted on.

While final equipment levels and pricing are yet to be announced the information from Peugeot Australia is that equipment levels will rise across the range but pricing will remain largely unchanged.
